How do you manage yourself as an independent artist?
💸 One of the biggest pieces of advice I tell new artists is to understand your finances. I know that we're artists and math can be scary sometimes, but it's worth your time to research where your money is coming and going. This business can get expensive fast so it's important to understand how you get paid, what you're owed, and WHEN you get paid.
💰 It's also important to keep track of your spending! From renewal fees, to merchandise production costs, to promotion costs -it adds up quickly!
So check out the above video with some great tips and tricks on management for indie artists!

Just posted my latest video on YouTube answering the question, "How Many Hours Does a Songwriter Work?" Songwriting is just like any other job, but how many hours do writers actually spend DOING IT? Also, can you ACTUALLY make a living from just songwriting?
The answer may surprise you.
Check it out in the above video!
January was a long year but we made it through. 😂
February has arrived meaning Spring is finally just around the corner. 💗🌱 I think there's probably a few more meanings in there than just the one surface-level.
Since hitting 1K subs at the literal end of 2019, my channel has been steadily growing. I'm over 1.1K subs now which is the fastest my channel has ever grown in my 10+ years on YouTube. I'm really not trying to be so numbers-obsessed but I'm honestly so thankful something is finally working. It's not easy being an independent artist and it gets quite lonely... but even for me, I guess things really do start to pay off eventually. 😊
I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am for that.
Not only has my YouTube channel grown, but so has my music and "brand" (if you want to call it that.) Dance Pop Music is my core of everything and all the other projects I do are simply off-shoots of that in my eyes. I've been writing a lot about my experiences and analyzing my own behaviors while finding resolve in things I believed to be my fault.
It's been truly cathartic and healing letting go of lies that I carried with me (or letting go of my own damn habit of trying to prove myself to everyone! 😂)
I'm also really excited to launch my first true merchandise collection, "Harmonic Interlude" later this week. It's been my project for the last 4-5 months and just FYI navigating eCommerce is a TRIP, YO! 😅 Lots of things to consider and learn but that's why I gave myself time to do it. I honestly love every piece of merch we've put together and worked with some fabulous designers as well. I couldn't be more proud of this project and I'm hoping everyone will love it just the same. 💗
I guess the long "winter seasons" in my life have really taught me to appreciate these small wins and gains. I've been at this for 15 years and things are JUST NOW starting to take form. Success is fleeting though and can dissipate at any moment. So for now, I'm just riding these positive waves and seeing what islands they take me to. 🏝
