The East meets The West in multilingual pop singer-songwriter & content creator, JONATHAN MILLER. Coming from a small suburban city outside of Portland, Oregon, fans describe his music as “the male version of Britney Spears but with a K-Pop twist.” An Independent Artist for over 15 years, his videos - aimed at exploring the global music industry - have helped thousands of artists achieve their dreams by charting on iTunes, Billboard, and beyond as well.
Growing up as a Third Culture Kid (a child that grows up immersed inside a culture outside their own) deeply affected JONATHAN’s musical development. “My mom ran an International Program through the YMCA with Saitama, Japan and it was so enveloping that many of the participants practically raised me from the time I was born (in conjunction with my own parents.)” Although not Japanese himself, this unique upbringing and basis would play an integral role in JONATHAN’s music and content as the years developed.
Beginning as a shy bedroom songwriter, JONATHAN quickly began to teach himself how to produce music at home. After self-releasing two demo albums, JONATHAN MILLER released his 2010 album, “This Summer Air” followed by a series of 3 dance-pop EPs (“Rising Eon,” “Guilty As Charged,” “Shadows of December”) over the following few years.
JONATHAN’s following 2013 LP, "The Space Between," showcases his talent as a singer and songwriter. “This album was when I began to understand who I was as a person growing up in such a diverse environment.” Inspired by legendary K-Pop Acts, TVXQ, SHINee, f(x), and Girls' Generation, "The Space Between" combines multiple genres. Dubstep, Dance-pop and Hip-Hop Music are prevalent throughout the entire album. The record was also produced by the Peter Roberts (LaToya Jackson, G. E. M., Randy Jackson) in Studio City, California. The album spawned two singles, “Finally Off the Elevator” and JONATHAN’s debut Japanese-Language single, “Marionette,” that same year.
On June 21st, 2016 JONATHAN MILLER’s fifth studio album aptly titled, “5,” was released. He then quickly rose to become the #1 DANCE artist in the Pacific Northwest (ReverbNation). However, unsatisfied and struggling as an independent artist,
January 29th, 2019 saw the release of JONATHAN MILLER’s mini album, “UTOPIA,” a self-produced 4-song extended play. Fans have described the EP as, “A minimalistic, yet futuristic, fusion of modern dance pop.” Featuring popular songs like “Bitter” and the EP’s title track, “UTOPIA” has become one of JONATHAN’s most popular projects.
After releasing a series of standalone singles, In July 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic, JONATHAN’s TikTok account went viral on TikTok garnering him tens of thousands of followers, millions of likes, and millions of views! Discussing topics like music genres, independent artist tips and tricks, the K-Pop Industry, as well as songwriting, JONATHAN became known for his album deconstructions, K-Pop analyses and deep dives.
On July 16th, 2021, JONATHAN MILLER dropped his latest single, “I Heard You Hate My Voice.” The indie pop song represents self-acceptance and strength for a once shy bedroom artist. “I needed to take my power back,” he stated in regards to bullying gay men typically face for the sounds of their voices, “I hope it inspires the LGBTQ+ Community to be confident and strong in who they are.” “I Heard You Hate My Voice” went on to be JONATHAN’s most popular song on Spotify.
JONATHAN MILLER is the commander in redefining the new independent global music industry. He is making headway around the world and connecting with new fans every day. In the future, he hopes to release more Japanese Language music, produce and write for other artists, as well as make more content helping others learn and grow in the music industry. For now, JONATHAN is continuing his path as an indie recording artist, songwriter, and content creator.
