In an almost poetic fashion, after 13 long years of online creation I had my first video anywhere hit 100,000 views right when the platform may get banned...
Regardless of the "what ifs," to have 100,000 views attached to something I made feels incredible. I know for many people 100K is probably nothing, but for me, it's a symbol of long-term dedication. Funny enough, the topic of the video happens to be about an aspect of the music industry I've always found interesting and what made me feel the most like an alien👽 - how pop albums are marketed. 📋 If I could tell each and every person who has viewed my TikToks in the week since I posted this video how much I appreciate them for giving me 60 seconds of their time, I would. 🙏🏼 I know this is an age of instant gratification and everyone having millions of views so to some this post might be a bit pathetic, but for me this is brand new and a huge milestone. Not entirely, admittedly. I've had 28 years of knowing what I'd do if something I created every caught fire 🔥and now it has. This is where the fun and the story really begins. 😁 Grateful is the word ringing in my mind. Getting some kind of virality for the first time, even if it isn't for my music specifically, is a privilege I don't take lightly. I recognize the fact that people caring about my content makes me LUCKY🍀, however the work it took to get there must be honored too. I'm still an absolute no one, but maybe this is a sign of things to come? If it's not, like I said, I'm grateful for this moment whatever it signifies. 🌸 13 years of dead ends and "maybe this will work's." 13 years of small wins and major losses. This is why I tell people to never ever quit chasing their dream for a career music. The path that leads you forward may not look like the path you imagined... but you're still on the path if you open your eyes and just keep walking. 2020 really has been something, huh? I've been writing this book alone for so long... Let's see what happens if you write it with me going forward. 😉📚💗 xo, JONATHAN MILLER
